Mini library:
In the store you will find a mini library of carefully selected books, magazines and local information to keep you entertained and well informed about what's on and where to go in the area.
Games:
Outdoor toys & games, including table tennis and an array of rackets, bats & balls are available to borrow. With hammocks, climbing trees, den building, stepping/balancing logs, trampolines, playhouse and rope swings, there are lots of activities on site to entertain imaginative children - and adults alike. All equipment is used at your own risk, and all children's play & behavior must be supervised.
Walks:
The parish of Westhall has many 'quiet lanes', bridleways and footpaths. If you wish to leave the car on site and explore the area on foot, we have created a map with directions for a wonderful 'Westhall walk'. This 4.5 mile circular route takes you to the beautiful, historic church of St Andrews - a C12th hidden gem - well worth discovering during your stay. Come back to camp via the village pub for an enjoyable local ale.
The Racehorse Inn www.westhallpub.com is a community run pub which offers lunches, dinners & a good selection of local ales. Open mid week days & weekends - just a 5 minutes stroll down the road. Dog walking:
We welcome friendly and well behaved dogs and provide a water filled drinking bowl and free treats. There are many walks and bridleways around the village where you can exercise your dog/s off lead, and you will find dog litter bins conveniently located throughout the village. But whilst on site, we respectfully ask that you keep your dog/s on lead/s at all times please.
Day trips by train:
If you wish to explore further afield you can travel by train. The 'Wolfpack Way' is a popular railway walk, taking you through Sunnyside farm to Halesworth (4 miles) returning by train to Brampton Station and a 2 mile walk back along the bridleway - find out more www.suffolkonboard.com and www.waveneyramblers.org.uk
Or take a day trip out from Brampton to historic market towns of Woodbridge, Beccles or Lowestoft which are all connected by rail.
Cycling
We are conveniently close to the National Cycle Route No1. - for all keen cyclists in need of a peaceful place to rest overnight, and we can provide dry storage for bikes if required.
We can recommended several easy cycling routes to the coast and provide printed maps with pubs located in the local area.

Relax & connect with nature:
Sometimes its nice just to stay on site and relax! Enjoy this peaceful haven and watch for wildlife. We provide an environment for many species of native flora and fauna, including great crested newts, frogs, grass snakes, bats, owls, buzzards, herons, water voles, hares, rabbits, hedgehogs, sky larks, woodpeckers, deer, ducks - to name but a few!
Spectacular sunrises and stunning sunsets are a joy to observe in our 'big Suffolk skies'. Take a stroll across to the edge of the site to see the views across open fields, relax in a hammock under the trees, or simply observe from the comfort of your pitch.
Enjoy the 'dark skies' status - after a fun filled day, you can sit back and star gaze, whilst you warm yourself with a crackling campfire at night, and listen out for the hooting owls, rustling hedgehogs, occasional fox or Muntjac bark.
Fires & BBQs:
Entertain yourself and your friends & family by cooking on real fire. Forage for kindling, whittle sticks and toast marshmallows after dinner in the glow of embers, with a comforting mug of hot chocolate or an Adnams ale!
Special eats & treats:
Fish - who can resist smoky barbequed prawns, chargrilled mackerel, salmon or a tasty crab salad for lunch or supper? Delicious local, fresh & smoked fish and shell fish for sale from Paul's van, visiting site on Thurs between 12-1pm.

Homemade cake is on sale from 2pm on Saturdays - enjoy with a cup of tea, or glass of Prosecco perhaps!
Parravani's Ice-cream van www.parravanis.co.uk visits the village on Saturday afternoons (around 3.30-4pm). Listen out for the music chimes to meet the van at the end of the drive, for a special treat of authentic gelato made in Suffolk!
Milk&More deliver fresh milk and fruit juice to site. Preorder through us by 8pm the night before for early morning delivery on Mons, Weds & Fri's.
Sunday breakfasts - bacon/veggie & egg baps and croissants to takeaway from The Shippen kitchen, for a lazy Sunday morning (9am -10.30am). Pre order on forms from the store - or text by 8pm, Saturday.
Pizza nights (last Friday of the month, weather permitting). We offer stone baked sourdough pizzas made to order (£12 each) and communal campfire. Order forms and booking of time slots available on the day.
